How reputation works

Reputation is separate from points and rewards evidence that other people found a contribution valuable.

Posting volume alone does not build trust. Ordinary disagreement and downvotes do not automatically reduce reputation.

Quality and fair play

Trust is earned, protected and explainable

Reputation rewards evidence that other people found work useful. It is deliberately harder to gain through volume alone.

What builds reputation

Helpful votes, accepted solutions, approved knowledge and verified service can build trust. Ordinary disagreement never creates an automatic penalty. Any meaningful deduction is a visible ledger transaction with an actor and reason.

How abuse is prevented

Self-votes do not earn awards. Unique event keys stop duplicates, daily caps limit low-value volume, removals create reversals, and reciprocal or suspicious patterns are queued for human review.

Open only the catalogue you need. Badges never replace verified Oracle credentials, and rank never grants staff access.

PKOUG Founding Contributor community badge

PKOUG Founding ContributorHistorical recognition · ReviewedReviewed historical recognition for a verified founding contribution to PKOUG.

Knowledge, speaking, mentoring, volunteering and community-building milestones are awarded automatically from reviewed, non-reversed contributions; problem-solving milestones count accepted solutions that currently stand. Annual, founding, historical and special recognition requires a reviewed administrator decision with evidence and can be revoked with its history retained.

Naming: the artwork’s “Rahnuma Badge” is the collision-free Mentorship Champion badge because Rahnuma is a lifetime rank. Its “Community Builder” is Community Catalyst because Community Builder is also a lifetime rank.

Verified credentials stay separate

Oracle ACE status, certifications and other approved professional credentials can be verified and displayed, but credentials, sponsorship and partnership never generate rank points.

Community leadership

Higher ranks can make a member eligible for mentorship, speaking, initiatives, SIGs or council consideration. They never automatically grant moderator or administrator access; every appointment remains a separate reviewed decision.

Annual recognition

Annual leaderboards celebrate current impact by configurable technology category. Lifetime points and ranks never reset.

No invented history

Existing members

Historical activity is assessed first in a read-only dry run using reliable forum records. Nothing is applied until an administrator reviews and explicitly approves it.

Rules can evolve without rewriting history

Future rule changes

Every rule has dated versions. A future points change applies from its effective date; previous ledger transactions keep the version and values under which they were earned.

Questions, answered

FAQ

Can points or leadership status be bought?

No. Sponsorship, partnership and membership payments are kept completely separate from contribution recognition.

What happens when content is removed?

Related awards are reversed with new auditable ledger entries. The original transaction remains in history.

Are ranks Oracle credentials?

No. They are PKOUG community contribution ranks. Verified Oracle credentials appear in a distinct section.

Can a high rank make someone an administrator?

No. Rank may support consideration, but privileges require a separate authorized appointment.
